MacLeod dominates at Rockingham on British F3 debut
6th May, 2014

Sam MacLeod delivered a master class of race craft on his British Formula 3 debut to deliver two victories in the opening round of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series at Rockingham.

Sam converted an impressive pole position in the first race to a win around the Rockingham Motor Speedway, making a perfect start to the weekend. A clean smooth start ensured that he kept the fighting pack behind him to deliver a lights-to-flag victory to head onto the top step of the podium. A reversed grid for the second race saw Sam line up in fourth place. A lightening start off the line saw him move straight into the lead as they headed into the first corner. Sam then pulled away to take a comfortable victory, crossing the line to claim his second British F3 win in a row in what was a superb demonstration of his abilities. The final race of the weekend was to be short lived for the Fortec Motorsport driver after a first lap clash forced him into retirement and out of the race.

Sam MacLeod “I am delighted that my first weekend in British F3 went so well. To take two pole positions, two wins and two fastest laps is a great result. Given that I was not able to test prior to the race I am especially happy. It is great that the Castrol car has had such a good showing in its first appearance in British F3 and that we are beginning a new chapter in the long history of Castrol and single seater racing. My goal was to fight at the front and learn, and we certainly achieved that. I am really looking forward to Round 2 of the German F3 Championship on 23-25 May”
