Since the Spa round the middle of the season, Sam has gained 78 positions in 11 races - making him the top performer on the grid in terms of passing other drivers! “One positive consequence of the problems we have had in car reliability and qualifying this season is the chance it has given me to hone my overtaking skills” said Edinburgh born Sam. “My pace has been in the top 10, but the issues have meant we have been mid field starting grid positions. That has given me an opportunity to move forward in the races. The experience I have gained passing other drivers, in a championship where overtaking is often considered to be difficult, is an asset for my future as we get on top of the issues which dogged us earlier in the year”
