Sam's 'incredible pace' does not translate into points in Austrian agony

When your principal rival for the championship goes on the record to acknowledge your pace as "incredible", as Markus Pommer did of Sam this weekend, you know you are doing something right. However a series of problems and mistakes meant that Sam was not able to translate that pace into the points haul that it deserved, and the weekend was therefore a disappointing one for the Van Amersfoort racing team. Sam was penalised in each race by a drive through penalty for a series of rookie errors in this second month of his Formula 3 career - a jumped start in race 1, not being lined up accurately in his start box for race 2, and for exceeeding track limits in race 3. Sam reflected on the weekend, saying "The officials here are preparing for the visit of F1 in two weeks time, and quite understandably were very strict. For a rookie that has left me open to a penalty in every race, which kept me off the podium. I will learn from this and look forward to making up for it in the next round at Hockenheim next weekend"
